What are Pupusas?

Stephanie Frick is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and proficient human resources executive with experience as a chief of military personnel. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, Stephanie Frick also enjoys food such as pupusas from El Salvador where she was born.

A traditional El Salvador dish, a pupusa is a stuffed corn tortilla prepared on a griddle that is believed to have originated centuries ago. Fillings used for the dish usually consist of cheese, beans, or meat. Cornmeal dough, referred to as masa de maíz, is used to make the corn tortillas for pupusas, which results in a thick tortilla with a nutty flavor similar to tamales.

Pupusas can be found in several varieties depending on their filling. A pupusa de queso is filled with cheese, while a pupusa de chicharrón is stuffed with traditional seasoned pork. A pupusa revuelta is filled with cheese, meat, and beans. The dish, which is usually eaten by hand, is often served with salsa and pickled cabbage referred to as Curtido.

Feed My Starving Children: Ways to Help

A certified human resources senior professional, Stephanie Frick most recently worked as a resources generalist at Avnet, Inc. In 2015, Stephanie Frick volunteered at Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding children who are hungry physically and spiritually.

There are many ways people can contribute to Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). As a volunteer, individuals can pack healthy meals, which the group then sends to partner organizations around the world. These partners, which include orphanages, schools, and clinics, distribute the carefully prepared meals to children in need.

Aside from packing meals, people can help FMSC through workplace and personal giving. FMSC accepts financial aid from employees and workers’ payroll accounts through their partner charity groups, like United Way and Global Impact. Alternatively, individuals can choose to personally raise funds or shop online from the organization’s partner sites. People can also give directly to FMSC through the group’s secure website.
